Bortle 3 · Rural dark sky | Elevation 40m | SQM ~21.4 | Best view South
An outer island of the Matsu archipelago with very low light pollution — famed for spring 'blue tears' but also excellent for stars and the Milky Way. The Dongju lighthouse area has open views for sea-and-sky night scenes.
🌌 Tonight the Milky Way core climbs to a shootable altitude around 20:25, sinks back near 03:05, and peaks around 22:55 at roughly 35° in the South.
Reached via the Taima ferry or a small boat from Nangan; the island is small — walk or rent a vehicle, and mind military restricted zones at night.
Village guesthouses and small shops; limited supplies.
Apr–Sep Milky Way season; the blue tears peak around Apr–Jun.
